The Department of Maritime Studies at the University of Wismar has a long tradition and enjoys a history  of teaching  ship-operational sciences  that  goes back to the year 1846.

Presently, there are approximately 650 students in our department and more than 6.000 at the whole university. Apart from the educational training,we organize successful and cutting-edge research projects. Furthermore, we offer further qualification courses for ship’s officers.

The Department of Maritime Studies is a very modern training centre which is internationally recognized for it’s excellence in the training and education of ship’s officers.

Wismar University is a member of the International Maritime Lecturers Association (IMLA), the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) as well as of the International Marine Simulator Forum (IMSF).
